Important Dates
June 1, 2026 (12:00 p.m.) - Candidate filing deadline for the Primary/General Election. Candidates must file with the Kansas Secretary of States Office. (Precinct committee candidates file with theElection Office). This is also the deadline to submit questions for placement on the Primary Election ballot.
June 1, 2026 (12:00 p.m.) – Deadline to change party affiliation for the 2026 Primary Election.
July 14, 2026 – Last day to register to vote.
July 15, 2026 – Advance by-mail ballots begin mailing.
July 25, 2026 – Advance in-person voting begins.
August 3, 2026 (12:00 p.m.) – Advance in-person voting ends at 12:00 Noon (Election Office Only).
August 4, 2026 – Primary Election Day. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
August 6, 2026 (10:00 a.m. until completed) – Selection of contests and precincts for the post-election audit.
August 7, 2026 (10:00 a.m. until completed) – Post-election audit.
August 12, 2026 (10:00 a.m. until completed) – Canvass of the 2026 Primary Election.
August 13, 2026 – Post-election public test of voting equipment.
August 13, 2026 (5:00 p.m.) – Deadline to request a recount

On August 4, 2026 you must visit your assigned Polling Place to vote on election day. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. You can find your assigned Polling Place by using the online voter look up tool Voter View.
