Wyandotte County Election Office Wins EAC Best Practice Award

The Wyandotte County Election Office is honored to have received an Election Assistance Commission (EAC) Clearinghouse Award for their Best Practices in Recruiting, Retaining, and Training Poll Workers. The award was presented to Kyla Esparza, Program Coordinator of Election Workers, by EAC Commissioner Ben Hovland, for her work in developing a Student Election Mock Vote Program that brings the voting process to the local schools of Wyandotte County.

This program helps educate the student body of local schools so they feel more comfortable voting in elections as they become 18 years old. The youth engagement program started out as an outreach program, but has since grown into a partnership with local schools that allows students to give back to their community by volunteering to work at Polling Places on Election Day.

Visit our Student Election Worker page for more information about how to sign up for the program.
